Is That’so ???

Probably one of the most critical portions to making a photoshoot successful for a model that is often neglected, is their tan. I’ve heard “I don’t need a tan” or “I’m already dark” or “I have a friend who can spray me”. I’ve seen some really good tans at shoots and some really, really bad ones.

A good tan makes a big difference ecstatically, and can make a body look more defined, especially during a photoshoot. An uneven tan can look awkward in pictures, and requires a lot more touch up then a smooth, evenly tanned body. Sometimes models come in with competition spray tans which are great for stage, but too dark for pictures.

I always recommend models to use a professional tanning company prior to their shoot with us. Even then, there are tanners out there that do poor jobs, or cause models to have an “orange” glow, which isn’t appeasing in pictures.

One day, a model came into the studio for a photoshoot, and her tan was nice and even and a really nice colour. I asked her who did her tan. She told me that she had applied it herself and that it was a cream. Her pictures turned out fantastic and I was really impressed by the quality of her tan. I was especially impressed with the fact that she did it herself.  I asked her for the name of the product and found out it was manufactured in Italy. The product is called Glam Legs Self Tanning Lotion and is made by That’so. I bought the product and tested it out on my wife, Nichelle Laus, and she loved it! Her skin was moisturized and soft, and the colour was amazing for the two photoshoots we used it on her for. To prepare for her shoot, Nichelle applied it all over her body in the evening before bed. When she woke up, she showered, dried herself and re-applied one more coat. By the time she arrived at the studio and had her make up and hair done, her tan was beautiful and perfect.

I have now connected with the supplier and am pleased to offer their products to our clients as an option for tanning for their photoshoots.

The cost per bottle is $50.00 plus HST and it is good for at least 4  applications, or two tans. We also stock it at OTC Toronto.

Here’s how you apply it:

Some tips for great tans:

  • Drink lots of water, it will help your skin.
  • Exfoliate your body really well for at least a week prior to your shoot or prior to applying your tan.
  • Moisturize your skin well daily.
  • Deodorant can alter your PH level when tanning, causing your skin to turn a green colour. Avoid deodorant prior to your tanning date and even the day of your photoshoot.
  • For photoshoots, don’t tan your face, the make up artist will match your face colour to your tan.

If you are interested in using That’So, contact us or drop in to pick up a bottle. Make sure you contact us first to make sure we have some in stock before you come by!

Happy tanning!
